Extreme makeover: Jane Austen

Evidently, Jane Austen, author of such little-known texts as Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility, hasn’t sold enough books. The reason?

She’s not is not enough of a babe.

There’s a new book coming out about Austen, but they’re worried it won’t sell because “She was not much of a looker,” said Helen Trayler, managing director of publisher Wordsworth Editions.

So they gave her hair extensions and took off her night cap. Jane, you wild, naughty girl, you!

That should do it. She should sell loads more books now.

For the record, MRP doesn’t hear anyone clamoring to give the Bard a makeover. Hair plugs, nose job, dental veneers, anyone?
