For grammar’s sake

Overheard on the off ramp as we approached the sign MRP had been trying to get a shot of all the way back from Cape Cod.

MRP: Oo! Oo! There’s my sign!

Mister MRP: I cannot slow down so that you can take this picture!

Well, everyone has their limits.

Despite having to work under these conditions, MRP did get a shot of this mysterious sign, which appeared all along the highway. And by all along the highway, I mean at intervals, usually right before a rest stop.

Okay, here’s the deal. It should read for safety’s sake. For some reason, someone designed this sign and dropped the possessive s on safety. They ran out of money? Space? Letters? Grammatical skills? Who knows.
