Lit boom bah!

This quiz about “Boomer lit” is kind of fun, whether or not you care about the current wave of Boomer navel gazing.

Test your knowledge about books, movies, and other associated pop culture. Here’s a couple of questions:

How many different words appear in the text of the Cat in the Hat?

MRP has read this book to S. (age 3 3/4) so many times you’d think I would have known the answer to that. Cat, in, the, hat . . . oh, I lost count.

Who was the first actor to be offered the roll of Randle McMurphy in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”?

Easy peasy.

What was Margaret’s last name in Are You There God, It’s Me, Margaret?

Wow. That could have been a question on the quiz I would rather take, “Literature Read by Kids who Grew Up Wearing Toughskins and Zips Sneakers.” Margaret will stay with me forever, most notably because of my memory of when, in fourth grade, Ellen A. had to explain to Karl L. what most of the book meant. But Margaret’s last name totally escaped me.

MRP scored a lame 59 percent, although finding out that most quiz takers scored in the 41-50 percent range made me feel slightly better. How did you do?
