Rein versus reign

Filed under: Word wars — mighty red pen @ 7:24 pm

Found this little typo:

Worry about yourself first. Collectively, consumers do need to continue spending to keep the economy on the move. But it’s probably better for your own finances to shirk this responsibility for a while. Reign in spending and start paying off credit card balances and other bills in the biggest chunks possible.

Okay, here’s the deal. Reign is the thing that King Friday and Queen Sara Saturday did in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. When you mean to control something (like a horse or your spending, in this case), it’s rein.

So with that, I’ll be back when the day is new, and I’ll have more ideas for you. And you’ll have things you’ll want to talk about. I will, too.
