Oh commander in chief, my commander in chief

Okay, so they came up with a funny slogan, but need some education on some of the finer points of language regarding our nation’s leader. Here’s the deal: the president is the commander in chief, not the commander and chief.

As it says in the U.S. Constitution: The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States.

Now, whether Hillary Clinton would be the commandress in chief or the commandrix in chief if she is elected president is the subject of another post.

MRP point of order: Also, the correct word here would be darned as opposed to darn.

  1. Hilary would be a commandress; Condoleeza (heaven forfend) would be a commandrix.

  2. And Obama would be fabulous.
