Y, o, y?

Hat tip to Gopher, who found this little tidbit on a parking ramp in Ohio and wrote: “Angstful poet-vandal with penmanship issues to boot. Put ‘disapaite’ into Google and you are asked, ‘Did you mean: disappointed?'”

Creative spelling of why as y aside, MRP wishes I could dissipate my disappointment at angstful poet-vandal’s spelling ability.

  1. The photo’s a bit fuzzy, but it looks to me like it might be ‘disapaire’ – an awful misspelling of ‘disappear’ perhaps?

It could even be ‘disspaire’ – a misspelling of ‘despair’…

Or perhaps the author is trying to convey the meanings of ‘dissipate’, ‘disappear’ and ‘despair’ all in the one word. In which case he is a minor genius.
