So here’s a fun one from TootsNYC. Check out this article from the Des Moines Register: “Bad grammar, misspellings could tax a pretty penny.”
Here’s an excerpt:
Has everyone heard about this new tax being debated at the Statehouse?
Listen up: It could cost businesses and their employees hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.
The new tax hasn’t been announced “officially,” but sources tell Workbytes that lawmakers plan to ram it through late in the session, probably during the long Administrative Professionals Day (April 23) weekend.
The tax would be levied on bad grammar in signs, advertisements, etc. It would target typos, misspellings, strange punctuation and dangling participles (they are nowhere near as painful as they sound) and would be enforced anywhere English is used.
