Typos walked in

Here’s a typo that would really burn my biscuit if I were Marisa de los Santos, the author of Love Walked In.

Here’s page 98, where the name of the character “Clare Hobbes” is spelled correctly (twice):

And here is the back cover, where the name of the character “Clare Hobbes” is spelled incorrectly:

Did I mention it’s the back cover of the book? And how much it would burn my biscuit if I were this author?

  1. In the last month, I’ve read two books where the main character’s first name is misspelled on the back cover. These are the only times I’ve noticed something like that and to have it happen twice in one month was so weird. I would be so pissed if I were the author of those books.

  2. I remember keeping track of typos in Atlas Shrugged by penciling them inside the front cover on their latest paperback edition when I was reading through it, in 1999 or so. I think I found around fourteen, so I sent the publisher a letter with my list. Do you think I even got a thank you? Pffft.

  3. I get the misspelling bit, but what caught my eye above and beyond that was the over-dramatising.

“…and then she burst into tears – exploded into tears.” Yikes!!
