Mighty Red Pen

Motherly love

Spotted at EMC Park in Hopkinton, Mass. For some reason, this paver reminds me of a saying La Mama de MRP had around the house when I was but a mighty red crayon, “You can fool all of the people some of the time/some of the people all of the time/but you can’t fool MOM!”

mothers

Only I’d like one that says, “But you can’t fool your proofreader!” Far be it from me to judge people’s creative spellings of grandma, that’s between you and your grandmother. But mothers, don’t let your babies grow up to abuse apostrophes.

  1. I’d even settle for a little ignorant consistency…wonder why there’s no apostrophe in “Grammas”?

  2. I’m pretty sure it should read, “Mothers can’t be in two places at once so they made grammars.”
