Just for the record, MRP generally does not recommend correcting your friends’ grammar—especially not to their faces—unless you are prepared to beat a hasty retreat.

  2. Oh, and if you do correct them, be sure you’re right.

    There’s nothing wrong w/ ending a sentence with a preposition.

    But that “at” is redundant.

  3. There was a Christmas version of this card available this year. I’m an editor (read: anal), and my best friend is loosey-goosey about everything. I gave this card to her. She laughed so hard I thought she was going to hurt herself.

  4. People from Ohio say things like that all the time.. For instance:
    Me: I’m on my way.
    Ohio Friend: Where you at?
    Me: I 75 halfway betwixt Toledo and Dayton.
