Liar’s lair

Filed under: Spellbound,Word wars — mighty red pen @ 7:23 pm

When leaving a comment for a notorious word nerd such as MRP, the usage of precise terminology is best, or you might find yourself being made an example of. For instance, someone (or someones) calling themselves “ChemPhese” was kind enough to leave this spam, er, comment for me the other day:

Okay, here’s the deal. A lair is the place that creatures such as badgers, bears, and say, minotaurs like to spend their time. When we mean someone who isn’t telling the truth, the word we want is liar. If we go to the home of the abovementioned scam artists, perhaps we can say we find ourselves in the lair of the liar.
