This little tidbit spotted on a business card:

Time for watches? Try time for proofreading instead.



  1. Oh dear. Someone really should have clocked that.

    (Do you have that usage – clock (v.) as slang for ‘notice’ – in AmE?)

    • Very punny, Stan! I haven’t heard that use of clocked before, but maybe someone else stateside has (do you have the usage that means “punched the guy’s lights out”?).

      • Yes, we have that sense too. Neither is particularly common, but I hear them both from time to time.
